The IndyCar Series and Schmidt Peterson Motorsports – Honda indicated a few hours ago that the Canadian Robert Wicken, seriously injured last Sunday in Pocono (Pennsylvania), had to undergo surgery at Lehigh Valley – Cedar Crest to treat a spinal injury.
The intervention took place yesterday Monday August 20 in the United States to “stabilize a fracture of the spine at the thoracic level associated with a spinal cord injury, according to the press release published at 15:30 p.m. French time.

Titanium rods and screws were successfully placed in Wickens' spine during the surgery, which was completed without complications.
The severity of the spinal cord injury is undetermined at this time. Robert Wickens is expected to undergo further surgery to treat fractures to his lower extremities and right forearm, and remains in stable condition. »
