Formula E presents the Putrajaya track

It is in Putrajaya, Malaysia, that the second of the 18 rounds of the inaugural season of the Formula E. An event which will be called the Putrajaya ePrix. This afternoon, the route was revealed. The track, located not far from Perdana Putra, a famous monument housing the Prime Minister's offices, will see competitors negotiate 12 turns in 2,56 km. The cars will take the main street and pass near the Putra Mosque and the magnificent bridge named Seri Wawasan Bridge.

“We are delighted to be able to lift the veil today on the track used for the Putrajaya ePrix, rejoices Alejandro Agag, big boss of Formula E. In six months, twenty drivers will race behind the wheel of electric single-seaters in the streets of Putrajaya. » And Daniel Abt, one of the two members of the Audi Sport Abt Team, continues: “The track looks really interesting, with lots of turns of a very different nature. There is a chicane at the end of the main straight which promises to provide a favorable area for overtaking. Then there is a mixture of low and medium speed corners, which is very good for keeping the peloton compact and ensuring very competitive races. I think the T6 (turn n°6. Editor’s note) swill also be favorable for overtaking maneuvers. Being located very close to the eVillage (entertainment area for fans. Editor’s note), it will offer a great point of view to spectators. Turn 9 reminds me of the very tight Macau hairpin. »

As a reminder, the route that Lucas di Grassi and others will cover during the opening event, at Beijing (China), September 13, was also presented recently.
