The council of Wandsworth in England met yesterday to discuss in particular the organization of the final of the Formula e on the route drawn in Battersea Park. The British round of the 100% electric single-seater championship sparked opposition from certain residents and users of the park, in particular on the lack of accessibility of the site or the inconvenience caused by the presence of a helicopter during the event.
Finally, the board approved the continuation of the ePrix on the site (scheduled for July 2 and 3 in 2016) for the next two seasons. However, several points will need to be improved to reduce the impact of the arrival of Formula e on Battersea Park.
“Despite the warnings that came from some opponents, the truth is that the event did not cause the chaos and destruction predicted, comments Councilor Jonathan Cook. We are confident that the important lessons we have learned together after this inaugural race will keep any disruption caused by running races next year to an absolute minimum. »
