The Mercedes-Benz EQ Silver Arrow 01 hits the track

From the almost complete Mercedes-Benz EQ Silver Arrow 01, we had already seen a temporary livery, with the German brand expected to debut in Formula E during the next 2019-2020 season.

From Wednesday to last Friday, Mercedes shifted gears with the Gen2 chassis, with the first laps on track of its car 100% electric. A run carried out in Varano in Italy, with Stoffel Vandoorne (HWA Racelab driver, from whom the Mercedes team will emanate), and Edoardo Mortara, official Mercedes-AMG driver and who usually competes in Formula E with Venturi.

Mortara thus replaced Gary Paffett, Vandoorne's teammate at HWA, but retained in the United States in the Intercontinental GT Challenge for the 8 Hours of California at Laguna Seca. After a 50km shakedown on the first day, Vandoorne and Mortara completed laps to cover a total of 527km.

« We brought together experts from our different sites in Affalterbach, Brackley, Brixworth and Stuttgart, comments Ian James, Mercedes-Benz Formula E manager. After three successful days, they left as a team. It was a bit like the birth of the Mercedes-Benz EQ Formula E team.”
