The electric MINI becomes the Safety Car

Like Formula 1, Formula E has decided to use two safety cars for its current campaign. However, it is not a question of Mercedes-Benz and Aston Martin but from BMW and MINI.

Now the BMW i8 Coupé will share the races of the 2020/2021 season with a MINI Electric Pacesetter inspired by John Cooper Works. “ Formula E and MINI are known for being original, unpredictable and accessible to everyone, explains Jamie Reigle, boss of the FE, when justifying his choice. We share a progressive global mindset and are committed to an all-electric future.

We look forward to seeing MINI lead the way through the streets of Formula E's iconic host cities, demonstrating the dynamic performance and urban appeal of fully electric vehicles ».

The MINI Electric Pacesetter will make its grand debut in Rome for the 3rd and 4th races of the season (April 10/11). Bruno Correia will still be at the wheel of the safety car.
