Pole for Cassidy, Nato second

Already surprised by the water during the first race of the weekend, the drivers once again had to deal with a wet circuit this Sunday morning. In very tricky conditions, it was Nick Cassidy (Virgin) who put himself forward.

In the Roman city, the Kiwi scored his first pole of the season and therefore of his career in Formula E. With a lap completed in 1'52"011, the Virgin driver was ahead of Norman Nato (Venturi), very comfortable on the wet track, and Pascal Wehrlein (Porsche).

On pole the day before and drafted this Sunday for the Super Pole after the penalty of André Lotterer (overconsumption of energy), Stoffel Vandoorne (Mercedes) this time settles for 4th place, 2” behind Nick Cassidy’s time. Maximilian Günther (BMW) completes the Top 3.

For the reigning champion, it is definitely not time to celebrate. Already 18th on the grid on Saturday, António Félix da Costa (DS Techeetah) is only 15th this Sunday.

Winner of his first race of the season this Saturday, his teammate Jean-Éric Vergne was unable to escape the weather trap and will only start 21st in this second Rome e-Prix. Only André Lotterer (Porsche), Sergio Sette Câmara (Dragon/Penske) and Jake Dennis (BMW) will start behind the Frenchman.

Meet at 13:00 p.m. (French time) for the start of the second race of the weekend in Rome.
