This is good news. The 105th edition of the Indy 500 will indeed take place with the presence of spectators in the stands according to the latest announcements from members of the event organization.
However, we should not expect to see the 135.000 places find takers since the gauge has been limited to 40% of the total capacity of the enclosure after consultation with local and regional health authorities in addition to the green light from the health department of Marion County.
« Our fans mean everything to us, reacted J. Douglas Boles, director of the Indianapolis circuit. We look forward to welcoming them back home this year for the Indy 500. The city and state have worked with us to put the appropriate health and safety measures in place to accommodate a limited crowd but very enthusiastic ».
In total, just over 50.000 spectators are expected to attend the 105th edition of the Indy 500 on May 30. They will have their temperature taken at the entrance gates. In addition, wearing a mask will be compulsory inside the enclosure. Physical distancing will also be established by the organizers.
