The victory for Piquet GP, the title for Kobayashi.

Kamui Kobayashi starting from pole position, but misses his start and lets Diego Nunes and Roldan Rodriguez overtake him. He was fourth, but anticipating his obligatory stop, Kobayashi returned to third and caught up slightly with the two Piquet GP cars.

The test pilot Toyota even had to let the podium slip away when his teammate at DAMS, Jérôme d?Ambrosio, overtook him. Starting from 11th place on the starting grid, the Belgian overtook his opponents one by one, at the cost of numerous overtakes. Kobayashi therefore does not resist too much and lets d?Ambrosio climb to the last step of the podium.

It must be said that Davide Valsecchi, Kobayashi's main opponent for the title, is taking water. The Italian cannot do better than 16th. He thus lost his second place in the general classification, to the benefit of Roldan Rodriguez.

After winning the Eurocup Formula Renault 2.0 in 2005, Kamui Kobayashi therefore adds one more title to his list of achievements, to his greatest joy. ?At the start, I lost four positions and I quickly told myself that it would be difficult to regain them. So I played placed and this strategy worked. I am delighted to have found such a professional team as DAMS and I thank them for giving me a car so competitive throughout the season. Congratulations also to all the engineers and mechanics: today?s double reward is deserved. Finally, thank you to everyone who supported me in this campaign, especially the Panasonic Toyota team F1, without which none of this would have been possible. »
