Victorious earlier in the morning of Race 2, New Zealander Liam Lawson (Hitech Grand Prix) lost his victory after being disqualified from Race 2 by the stewards. The Kiwi is accused of having used a non-compliant accelerator pedal card at the time of departure.
This disqualification is costly for Liam Lawson, who was eleven lengths behind the championship leader Guanyu-Zhou. He therefore loses the fifteen points offered to the winner of the sprint race and offers them on a plate to Daniel Ticktum (Carlin) who recovers his first victory of the year. In his misfortune, Lawson offers at least a first podium to his Estonian teammate Jüri Vips. Theo Pourchaire moves him up to 4th place and earns two additional points.
