The St Petersburg GP behind closed doors

Le St Petersburg Grand Prix, opening handle of IndyCar series 2020, will go well this weekend in Florida, but behind closed doors, as announced this Thursday evening, against the backdrop of the coronavirus epidemic.

“The Grand Prix will be closed to spectators and limited to essential personnel only, specifies the press release from Penske Corporation, at the head of the series. This protocol is in place to protect the health and well-being of fans, drivers, teams, employees and officials as we mitigate the risk of exposure to COVID-19.

The race weekend will run from Friday to Sunday, with IndyCar on-track sessions limited to Saturday and Sunday. Activities also include Road To Indy, theIMSA Porsche GT3 Cup et SRO Motorsports Group America sur un calendrier condensé. »

In addition to being held behind closed doors, the IndyCar round will therefore see its schedule reduced as much as possible. The United States has banned arrivals on its territory from Europe (excluding Great Britain and Ireland), and the Super Sebring on the weekend of March 20 was largely disrupted with the postponement of the 12 Hours in IMSA in November et the cancellation of the WEC event.
