If Edoardo Mortara (Venturi Racing) had set the best time in the first session of the day, the story was quite different during the second outing of the day on the Ricardo Tormo circuit this Saturday.
Benefiting from a dry track after the morning's rain, all drivers improved on their morning marks. Owned by Edoardo Mortara, the day's record finally went to André Lotter (Porsche). The German completed his lap in 1'12"519 compared to 1'18"148 for his Italian-Swiss counterpart earlier in the day.
Behind during the first session of the day, Jean-Éric Vergne (DS Techeetah) returned to the front at the end of the day with the second fastest time less than a tenth behind André Lotterer. His teammate and reigning world champion António Félix da Costa placed third on this first day of riding.
Note the presence of Norman Nato (Venturi Racing) in seventh place between René Rast (Audi) and Nico Müller (Dragon Penske).
The second day of pre-season testing is scheduled for this Sunday, still on the Ricardo Tormo circuit. It is again broken down into two sessions, one in the morning (9 a.m.-12 p.m.) and another in the afternoon (14 p.m.-17 p.m.).
