Lotterer takes his first pole in Rome, the favorites outside the top 10

On a track that became wet during the interlude between Group 4 and the Super Pole, André Lotterer (DS Techeetah) opened his pole count by Formula e, this Saturday, April 13. The German set the best time in Rome (Italy) despite a slip that could have cost him dearly when passing a pin through the wet coating. Mitch Evans (Jaguar) completes the front row, despite the pronounced enthusiasm of the English team:

The Dragon team had an excellent session. Victim of an accident during the second free practice session, José Maria Lopez more than made up for it with a place in the Super Pole. The three-time WTCC world champion snatches the third fastest time. The ghost Maximilian Günther will start fifth after a winter absence, behind Stoffel Vandoorne (HWA).

Starting in the first group, the leaders of the general classification suffered. Leader Antonio Félix Da Costa (BMW i Andretti) will start 13th. The title holder and recent winner of the Sanya ePrix (China), Jean-Éric Vergne (DS Techeetah) will have a lot to do from 17th place. It's even worse for Jérôme d'Ambrosio (Mahindra), who only set the 20th time.

To his return to the electrical discipline in place of Nelson Piquet Jr, Alex Lynn (Jaguar) quickly regained his bearings (9th). The second Frenchman hired, Tom dillmann (NIO) is ranked 21st.

Finally, bad luck overwhelms debutant Alexander Sims (BMW i Andretti). The Briton suffered a mechanical incident during his flying lap and will start last. An Italian commissioner gave him an umbrella to protect himself from the downpour.

The start of the Rome ePrix will be at 16 p.m. and the event will be broadcast on C8 and Eurosport.
