Second in the main race and winner in the sprint race in Bahrain, Luca Ghiotto (Uni-Virtuosi) shone this Friday in qualifying in Barcelona by taking pole against the FIA championship leader F2 Nicholas latifi (DAMS).
At the end of a session without neutralization, the Italian completed his reference lap in 1'28″031 and got the better of the Canadian by a little less than two tenths. The second row will see the rookie Guanyu-Zhou (Uni-Virtuosi) and the Dutch Nyck de Vries (ART Grand Prix) start side by side.
The top 5 is completed by Jack Aitken (Campos Racing), winner in the main race in Baku during the last meeting. Mick Schumacher (Prema) will start in 10th position, just behind Frenchman Dorian Boccolacci (Campos Racing). Less success for Anthoine Hubert (Arden) 15th and Giuliano Alesi (Trident) 17th.
The main race will take place tomorrow Saturday at 16:40 p.m., following the Grand Prix qualifying F1.
