Mahindra continues to trust Wehrlein and d'Ambrosio

To best prepare for the 2019-20 season Formula e, the Mahindra Racing team has decided not to change the identity of its drivers. An experienced member of the championship since its creation at the end of 2014, Jérôme d'Ambrosio is retained for a second consecutive campaign within the Indian team, with Pascal Wehrlein at his side.

The German, making his electric debut in 2018-19, distinguished himself with a pole position, two best laps and a podium, but lacked consistency (12th). An element available to his Belgian teammate, who even led the general classification in the first half of the season, before weakening and finishing in 11th place.

“The fact that we stay together means we can come back stronger and consistently fight for victories,” announces Jérôme d’Ambrosio. Nick Heidfeld continues his role as advisor and test pilot, while Sam Dejonghe remains dedicated to the simulator.

If the drivers don't change, the mechanics still evolve. The M6Electro receives this season a traction chain from the workshop ZF Friedrichshafen AG. The German equipment manufacturer, known for its gearboxes, was until now a partner of the team Venturi, which now works with Mercedes.

As for Mahindra, this means that it no longer manufactures the powertrain in-house. “We were greatly impressed by ZF's performance during the last Formula e season, recognizes Dilbagh Gill, Team Principal of the Indian team. Together, we will be even better positioned to celebrate successes. »
