Meritus targets F1 in 2016

Meritus Racing is an ambitious team and it seems to be giving itself the means to achieve its objective. Multiple winners in Formula BMW and the Formula V6 Series in recent years, the team took a further step by making its appearance in the GP2 Asia Series where it became the only Asian team to be granted a license.

Meritus Racing has set itself a long-term objective and is putting all the chances on its side to achieve it. It initially wishes to make its appearance in the GP2 Series in 2011 before taking the final step a few years later like other teams which will make their appearance in F1 next year. “ Campos F1 has spent the last four seasons in the GP2 Series acquiring and developing their technology », We can read in a press release. “ We would be honored to one day race in F1 with a national team and we hope to be ready to build our own car of F1 with Malaysian engineers to achieve this goal in 2016 », Explains Firhat Mokhzani, the team director.

« But we have our feet on the ground and our short-term goal is simple: win races in the GP2 Asia Series and get a nod by winning the GP2 Asia Series championship in 2010 He concludes.
