Mitch Evans: “I heard it was crazy behind me”

After two races with almost anonymous results in Saudi Arabia, Mitch Evans and Jaguar had clearly upped the tempo in Chile, with a third place synonymous with new momentum for the transition to 2020 in Formula E.

Une courbe de progression confirmée hier soir au Mexique, avec un succès autoritaire du Néo-Zélandais, rapidement passé en tête de l’épreuve face au poleman André Lotterer (Porsche).

“We had a very good pace and it was a close battle with André, Evans explains. It was like déjà vu in Rome! After passing him, I put my head on the handlebars and tried to get some distance because everyone was quite aggressive in my mirrors. I had to widen the gap and the car worked well. »

So much so that no one will worry the Jaguar Racing driver throughout the event. “I just had to continue to achieve the goals. » analyzes the winner by evoking his energy consumption, his only point of concentration in the race, far from the skirmishes which marred the rest of the peloton until the finish.

“I can't wait to watch the replay because I heard it was crazy behind me, continues Evans. It's very nice to leave here knowing that you managed to solve the problems from the previous races. »

Jaguar Racing could have taken its two cars into the points, but James Calado, 9th at the checkered flag, was disqualified from the results for exceeding the authorized amount of energy. Enough to allow Pascal Wehrlein (Mahindra Racing) to move up to 9th place and his teammate Jérôme d'Ambrosio to enter the top 10.

A small consolation for the two drivers, demoted far on the grid after changes to elements around the gearbox before the race.
