Nikita Mazepin promoted by ART Grand Prix

Racing Point Force India reserve driver this year, Nikita mazepin will not be part of F1 in 2019 within Vijay Mallya's former structure. The takeover attempts by Uralkali, managed by his father Dmitry, did not resonate with the shareholders led by the businessman Lawrence Stroll, father of Lance, and future Racing Point Force India driver for the next season.

The young Russian driver, GP3 Series vice-champion this year behind his teammate Anthoine Hubert, will however climb one place in the F1 accession pyramid, by competing in the FIA F2. The Muscovite will remain in this perspective aligned by the French structure ART Grand Prix.

“Continuing our partnership with Nikita in Formula 2 is the logical continuation of a successful 2018 season, where he was always in the fight for victory and for the GP3 title, which he missed during the last weekend of the season, comments the general director of ART Grand Prix Sébastien Philippe.

Nikita was a rookie in GP3, but his performances were remarkable from day one with a superb victory in Barcelona. He has several strengths: he is fast and he constantly strives to improve in everything he does. I am sure he can be a key piece of our Formula 2 team, just like he was in GP3. »

Nikita Mazepin will line up for end-of-season testing this week at the Yas Marina Circuit in Abu Dhabi.
