Present since the beginning of the championship in 2014, first under the names China Racing and Nextev (with the title in season 1 for Nelson Piquet Jr), the structure NIO will always be there Formula E when the series will host Gen3 single-seaters in 2022-2023 with a targeted presence until 2025-2026.
“We have seen the development of Formula E since its inception and now, as it transitions to the FIA World Championship, we welcome the evolution towards its third generation, describes Vincent Wang, director of NIO.
We attended numerous meetings with the FIA and Formula E regarding the Gen3 technical roadmap when we joined the Formula E family as 333 Racing last year.
We are excited to join the list of manufacturers continuing in the series and expect to see further changes as Formula E grows.
It still remains the best series of races around new energies with sustainable development, a global influence and is at the forefront of technological innovation in electric mobility. »
NIO had introduced its own powertrain before the 2020-2021 campaign after notably using that of Dragon Penske. The Chinese team is currently in penultimate place in the 2020-2021 Manufacturers rankings.
