New victory for MP Motorsport: Drugovich wins the sprint race

What a weekend for MP Motorsports ! 24 hours after Nobuharu Matsushita’s victory in the main race, it’s Philip Drugovich who in turn took victory this Sunday during a funny sprint race in Barcelona.

Thanks to a good start, or rather a bad one from poleman Luca Ghiotto (Hitech), Felipe Drugovich took the lead of the race from the first corner. The Brazilian, already winner of the sprint race in Austria, won his second success of the season, helped by Luca Ghiotto in difficulty in 2nd place and who created a massive traffic jam behind him for a large part of the race.

On the 16th lap, the degradation was such that the drivers were driving almost 8 seconds slower than in qualifying, which is enormous in Formula 2. The men at the gates of points such as Shwartzman, Ticktum, Aitken or Zhou tried everything by passing the lapped Tenders with six laps to go, but it was insufficient.

Mick Schumacher (Prema Racing) completes the podium and scores ten important points in the championship. As for the fight for the title, Callum Ilott (UNI-Virtuosi) thought he would take big points but his pace dropped violently in the final laps.

Symbolically, it was Christian Lundgaard (ART Grand Prix) who snatched the last point of the race (8th) thanks to a dive in the final chicane. For his part, Robert Shwartzman (13th, Prema) does not score any points either.
