New information on the state of health of Juan Manuel Correa

Involved in the dramatic Spa-Francorchamps accident in the FIA F2, which cost the life of Anthoine Hubert, Juan Manuel Correa remains hospitalized in a serious but stable condition in London, England.

The parents of the Sauber Junior Team by Charouz driver gave news this Friday about their 20-year-old son.

“Our son, Juan Manuel, remains in the intensive care unit in a hospital in London, England, with my wife and I by his side, indicates Juan Carlos Correa, his father.

We have good days and bad days and long nights and short nights, but with the support of the motorsport community, our friends, our family, our country and our fans, we continue to pray for Juan Manuel.

Juan Manuel remains in a state of induced coma so that his lungs can recover as much as possible. By continuing to be assisted by an ECMO (extracorporeal membrane oxygenation) machine, many of the essential key indicators have improved slightly, while others deteriorated very little.

The doctors reminded us that as long as Juan Manuel shows even minimal signs of improvement, that's all we can ask for at the moment. Infections are under control and respiratory indicators remain stable and all vital signs remain constant and stable.

We believe in our son's strength and determination. We view this slight improvement as an indication that he is starting to turn the tide in his favor, we just need him to do it a little faster.

Doctors continue to monitor and change bandages if necessary and confirm that the fractures are multiple and serious. Additional operations will be necessary when Juan Manuel's lungs improve to a condition where it is safe for doctors. »
