Since his first laps on Wednesday, Romain Dumas has dominated the Pikes Peak Open category and the third day was no exception. At the wheel of his Porsche 911 GT3 R, the Frenchman achieved the best time in the last part of the 19,9 kilometers of the famous hill climb. “ This is without a doubt the most difficult portion of Pikes Peak, explains Dumas. There are many blind turns and there are very few markers. The surface is also bumpy, even more so than on the first two thirds of the track. It was not easy, especially as the temperature was very cool. That said, we have improved the car each time and it is generally well balanced, especially in fast corners. »
Tomorrow, the day will be dedicated to the fans, always numerous at Pikes Peak, but Romain Dumas has not forgotten the reasons for his coming to the United States. We are aiming for first place in the Pikes Peak Open category and we will try to obtain the best result in the general classification, he adds. We are making our debut here, we have to face competition made up of specialists and pilots who already have experience in an environment that has no equivalent. The challenge is significant: in a few days, we had to learn many things. We have already learned a lot and I am sure that on Sunday we will learn even more lessons for the future. »
