First success for Diego Nunes

No luck for pole sitter Jérôme d?Ambrosio. Betrayed from the reconnaissance lap by his transmission, the race ends there for him. Consequently, Diego Nunes finds himself alone on the front line. The start is quite eventful, with in particular Javier Villa, on the third row, who remains glued to the starting grid, but the way is clear for Nunes who takes the lead, ahead of Vitaly Petrov and Pastor Maldonado, authors of a very good start .

Nunes irreparably widens the gap while there is action behind him. Kamui Kobayashi and James Jakes benefit from a perfect strategy to make the break against the rest of the competition. After their obligatory pit-stop, the Japanese from Dams and the Englishman from Super Nova occupied second and third place. Until the end Jakes searches for the opening, without ever finding it. They therefore cross the finish line in this order.

Under the eyes of Nelson Piquet Sr and Nelson Piquet Jr, Diego Nunes won for the first time in the GP2 Asia Series. ?I didn?t get a good start, but then I benefited from a very good car. We found a good set-up, effective over time without damaging our tires. This victory will give me confidence. I proved today that I can win races, that I know how to go fast without making mistakes” comments the winner of the day.
