For the first time in his young career, Patricio O'Ward (McLaren SP – Chevrolet) took pole position for a raceIndyCar, this Sunday on the Road America road route (Wisconsin).
The driver of the alliance between Schmidt Peterson Motorsports and McLaren completed the best lap in his qualifying group in 1'44"897, 22 thousandths ahead of Alex Palou (Dale Coyne Racing with Team Goh – Honda)
Enough to also beat the best time of Colton Herta (Andretti Harding Steinbrenner – Honda), dominating in group 1 but ultimately beaten by O'Ward.
Among the favorites, Scott Dixon (Chip Ganassi Racing – Honda), winner of the first three races of the year, including yesterday's at Road America, will start sixth while simon pagenaud (Team Penske – Chevrolet) could not do better than 22nd.
The race starts at 18 p.m. French time.
