First pole position for d'Ambrosio

Belgian driver Jérôme d'Ambrosio wins his first pole position in the GP2 Asia Series, on the Sepang circuit. A great opportunity for the DAMS driver to stand out, at the opening of the Malaysian F1 Grand Prix.

First pole position for d'Ambrosio

Already performing well in free practice, Jérôme d?Ambrosio confirmed it in qualifying, taking his first pole position in the GP2 Asia Series. With twenty-two drivers in the same second, this qualifying session was competitive to say the least.

Disturbed by a downpour a few minutes before the presentation of the green flag, the session began calmly. D?Ambrosio is the first to start on slicks. You have to wait a few laps to find the performance. Result, pole position is decided in the last ten minutes between the two Dams drivers, Jérôme d?Ambrosio and Kamui Kobayashi, and the two Piquet pilots, Diego Nunes and Roldan Rodriguez. This duel is refereed by Davide Valsecchi and James Jake.

D?Ambrosio gains the upper hand over his opponents and then thinks he has done the hardest part. But that's without counting on Nunes' response. D?Ambrosio does another quick round. 1?45??510, the mass seems to be said.

The last minutes proved decisive for obtaining second place. Diego Nunes is doing the best. He is ahead of James Jakes and the championship leader, Kamui Kobayashi.
