First win for Evans and Jaguar in Rome after red flag

Jaguar Racing and its favorite driver Mitch Evans were chasing a first victory in Formula e since 2016. The New Zealander used all his finesse to finish on the highest step of the podium on Saturday April 13 during the Rome ePrix (Italy). He is the seventh different winner in seven rounds in this 2018-19 season!

The 2012 GP3 Series champion held second place for a long time, until taking advantage of an Attack Mode 15 minutes from the finish. It was at this moment that Mitch Evans slipped inside at the start of a tight chicane, forcing leader André Lotterer to hit the wall and give up his position.

The duel would remain frozen until the end. For once left alone by bad luck, the rookie Stoffel vandoorne (HWA) completes the podium. The Belgian, however, suffered a breakdown during the deceleration lap.

The Nissan e.dams team carries out a group shot thanks to Sébastien Buemi (4th) and Oliver Rowland (5th). Disadvantaged by their position in Group 1 in qualifying, Lucas di Grassi (Audi), Jérôme d'Ambrosio (Mahindra) and Antonio Félix Da Costa (BMW i Andretti) moved back into the top 10 (7th, 8th and 9th).

Big disappointment for Jean-Eric Vergne (DS Techeetah). The outgoing champion was given a penalty for overtaking at the start of a Full Course Yellow (FCY) regime. Initially seventh, the Frenchman was ejected from the top 10 (14th).

Author of a sensational qualifying session, Team Dragon lost big in the space of one turn. Back after a winter spent on the simulator, Maximilian Günther (5th on the grid) caused quite a stir by skidding at high speed. Broken front nose, the German could continue but finished at the back of the table

His teammate José Maria Lopez stood out in a curious way. The three-time WTCC champion fell from third to 11th place on the first braking, then sent Sam Bird (Virgin) into the wall at a chicane, before causing a pile-up at the end of the first lap! The Argentinian was penalized with a drive through and finished 16th.
