And the first pilot of McLaren en Formula E is… René Rast! If he will be an official BMW driver from 2023, the German will compete in the 2022/2023 season under the colors of the English team which will make its big debut in the electric championship, taking the place of Mercedes who decided to retire after the last disputed campaign.

Who to accompany Rast at McLaren?
Currently, McLaren has only announced one of its two drivers for the 2022/2023 Formula E season. To support René Rast, the English team has various tracks at its disposal. Between signings and extensions, Zak Brown has several drivers at his disposal starting with Felix Rosenqvist recently extended in the ranks of McLaren Racing and whose sporting program will soon be confirmed.
In addition to Felix Rosenqvist, McLaren recruited Alex Palou but also extended Pato O'Ward in the McLaren Racing circle. What about Daniel Ricciardo, announced on the departure of the stable F1 ? The Australian is certainly under contract until 2023 but his managers seem open to replacing him with Oscar piastri. If he were to stay within the McLaren fold he would be a strong option for the Formula E team. It remains to be seen whether he will be of the same opinion. One thing is certain, the English management is spoiled for choice.
