René Rast replaces Daniel Abt at Audi

We were talking about it on June 11, René Rast seemed the favorite to replace Daniel Abt, ousted fromAudi Sport Abt Schaeffler after the case of cheating in Race at Home Challenge.

The two-time champion DTM, three-time winner of the Porsche Supercup and one of the big names in GT3, will thus return to a discipline already discovered with Team Aguri in a race in Berlin in 2016.

“The requirements asked of pilots in Formula E are high: in addition to pure speed, it's also about efficiency, battery management and perfect strategy, and all this on tight street circuits, where things are usually quite lively, underlines Rast.

But, with the tests at the beginning of July and my experience in the simulator, I will try to be as well prepared as possible for Berlin. And with six races over nine days, I'll have plenty of opportunities to learn quickly..."

Rast will be able to test the car e-tron FE06 at the Lausitzring next month before concluding the 2019-2020 season on an extremely condensed program of six races in nine days, all contested on the runway at Tempelhof Airport in Berlin, with different circuit configurations expected.
