Richard Verschoor ups the tempo at Barcelona tests

Second in the afternoon session yesterday in Catalonia for the first day of testing FIA F2 on the Montmelo circuit, Richard Verschor did well this Saturday, increasing the tempo compared to the best times of the day before.

The pilot MP Motorsports set a new benchmark for these tests during the morning session, completing a lap of the Barcelona track in 1'28″280, lowering by more than a second the time of Christian Lundgaard (ART Grand Prix) achieved yesterday.

In a period of typical qualifying laps, the Dutchman had thus dispossessed Felipe Drugovich (Uni-Virtuosi) from the best time, before Ralph Boschung (Campos Racing) came between the two drivers to complete the leading trio before the break half day.

The longer stints of the afternoon did not provide the scene for an improvement in times, David Beckmann and Guilherme Samaia (Charouz) giving their team a double on the timesheet, but more than a second behind from the Verschoor reference.

French side, Theo Pourchaire (ART Grand Prix) signed the 7th time this Saturday morning before concluding with the 11th time in the afternoon of a day where a spin in the gravel for Roy Nissany (DAMS) this morning, two figures for Alessio Deledda ( HWA Racelab) and a stop on track for Robert Shwartzman (Prema) disrupted the running.

The final day of testing in Barcelona begins tomorrow morning.
