Richard Verschoor (Van Amersfoort Racing) finished the first day of 2022 post-season testing in Abu Dhabi in the lead this Wednesday, November 23. The 21-year-old beat Prema Racing duo Frederik Vesti and Oliver Bearman with a time of 1'36''395.

In the morning session, it was Dennis Hauger (MP Motorsport) who took the lead, with a time of 1:36.821 which took a long time to be beaten before the Dutchman produced his effort at the end of the day .

Taking advantage of the cooler track temperatures at the end of the afternoon session, Richard Verschoor's personal best was part of a series of late improvements, and he finished the day just three thousandths ahead on Frederik Vesti. The latter had spent Tuesday piloting the Mercedes W13 from Formula 1 in Yas Marina.

Prevented from driving for several hours following a mechanical problem, rookie Isack Hadjar (Hitech Grand Prix) only recorded eight laps in the morning, compared to 41 for Jack Doohan (Virtuosi Racing). The Frenchman made up for it in the afternoon with 38 loops and the 16th fastest time.

Testing will resume on Thursday at 9 a.m. local time. A driver change is planned: Richard Verschoor becoming the driver of the #25 Van Amersfoort Racing car. He will be joined by Juan Manuel Correa who will drive the No. 24 car.
