THEIndyCar is back to school in these first days of February at the Thermal Club complex in California. Among the 27 drivers entered in 2023, Romain Grosjean will begin his third season in the discipline, his second in a row with Andretti.

The 36-year-old Frenchman will try to put behind him a 2022 campaign marked by several incidents on track with competitors, and a tarnished reputation (13th in the championship, 2nd in Long Beach). “I think we looked at everything that was wrong, declared the former pilot of Formula 1, Wednesday February 1st. There was not just one thing to consider, but several elements together that we could improve, so we tried to put everything in order.

The team did an excellent job. I did my job too, on my side. I also think that for Olivier (Boisson, his personal engineer. Ed.) and me, it will be easier the second year in the team. Olivier had the entire winter break to do his homework, whereas last year we arrived without as much time to prepare." explains Romain Grosjean.

The Habs also detailed his impressions of his first 24 Hours of Daytona, contested with Lamborghini in the GTD Pro category in the company of Jordan Pepper, Mirko Bortolotti and Andrea Caldarelli (4th in class).

“I enjoyed my time with the teammates at Daytona. The BoP was not in our favor, so we knew it was going to be difficult. But I think we did a really good job, finishing fourth on the leader's lap, being so far off the pace. So that was great. L'Endurance is something I've wanted to do for a long time.

I think the most beautiful thing about IndyCar and endurance racing IMSA, is that they do not conflict in dates, so we have the chance to do both. I have the chance to only think about myself and drive in IndyCar and I have the chance to share races like the 24 hours, which are very powerful experiences with my teammates and my team. »

Romain Grosjean also confirmed that his IMSA program with Lamborghini would be limited in 2023 to the 12 Hours of Sebring and “probably Small Le Mans », the season finale. It will then be time to prepare for the 2024 season with the LMDh of Sant'Agata Bolognese (Italy).

The Frenchman was finally very clear about his priority in 2024. To the question " Is that'IndyCar will still be your priority in 2024 and Lamborghini will be the Endurance program? », Romain Grosjean simply replied “ Yes ". Let us specify that in 2024, Romain Grosjean will compete in the 24 Hours of Le Mans.
