Santino Ferrucci apologizes for his actions at Silverstone

Excluded of the next two F2 meetings after hitting his Trident teammate Arjun Maini after the finish of the Silverstone sprint race, as well as for not appearing before the stewards, Santino Ferrucci has presented an apology in recent hours via his Twitter account.

The resident of the Haas development program F1 Team tries to justify the contact with Arjun Maini and provides an explanation for his absence before the commissioners.

« I want to sincerely apologize for my actions on Sunday during the race F2 from Silverstone. I showed poor judgment at the end of the event, getting too close to my teammate Arjun and veering, only scraping his tire, fortunately without causing any damage or concern to his car.

There was no intention, premeditation, or any type of retaliation with my actions, only anger and frustration with this horrible year. I have no excuse other than being a 20-year-old Italian-American driver with a deep passion for motorsport, which brings out a lot of emotion.

While there was a lot of provocation that led to this “absence,” it is still no excuse, and I will make sure it doesn’t happen again.

I realize I have embarrassed a lot of people, and I apologize to my sponsors, Trident, the drivers, Haas F1, the FIA, the FIA F2, my fans, my friends and my family.

I also want to apologize to the FIA stewards for not being able to attend the summons. I was randomly selected for a doping test, like several others, and this delayed my return to the paddock by over an hour.

At this point, I quickly packed my bags, and had to go to the airport to catch a plane back to the United States due to a significant medical issue in my family.

I was made aware of the commissioners' summons as I was leaving, and I sent an email to my team manager which he had to forward to the commissioners to explain that I had no other options than leaving. »
