Sauber Junior Team by Charouz recruits Ilott and Correa

The Charouz team will become the Sauber Junior Team by Charouz, strengthening its links with the pyramid F1 this season, and has confirmed its lines for the 2019 FIA season F2.

3rd in the GP3 Series champion in 2018, Callum ilott will logically be promoted in 2019. The Briton, member of the Ferrari Driver Academy, will evolve within the Sauber Junior Team by Charouz, the team for which he carried out post-season tests in 2018.

“It’s a technically strong team with familiar faces that make them feel like the perfect fit, comments Ilott. We quickly established a good starting point and ultimately finished third on the first day of riding.

F2 is rightly a tough category: the cars are fast and technical and the pit stops add more strategy to the races. I can't wait to start the season.

I'm actually in a unique position, benefiting from all the expertise of the FDA program and being part of the Sauber Junior Team environment. It's a very good combination that will help me grow as a driver.

I still have a lot to learn, but I intend to repay the trust the FDA has placed in me by putting in a strong performance in the fight for the F2 championship. »

Ilott will be supported by Juan Manuel Correa, also confirmed by Sauber Junior Team by Charouz.
