Scott Dixon extends contract with Chip Ganassi

The alliance sealed since the 2002 season between Scott Dixon and Chip Ganassi Racing will continue in 2019. The two parties have announced the extension of their partnership from the next season, therefore including the IndyCar Series, the main field of expression for the New Zealand driver.

This will be the 18th year of collaboration between Dixon and Ganassi, punctuated by four IndyCar titles (2003, 2008, 2013 and 2015), a success at the Indy 500 in 2008, but also two overall victories at the 24 Hours of Daytona in 2006 and 2015, and a category victory in GTLM at the start of the year with the Ford GT.

« I've always said I respect Chip a lot and what he's done in this sport, Dixon comments. It's not an easy matter. His CV speaks for itself and he is the type of team owner any competitor would want to drive for.

It gives you the tools you need to get the job done, with the right group of people. This team has been like family to me since 2002, and I'm happy to be here trying to achieve more wins, championships and Indy 500s in the years to come. »

The contract covers several seasons, Dixon having however long been courted for a possible commitment of McLaren in the series car U.S..

Current leader of the 2018 IndyCar championship, Scott Dixon will still be lined up in the No. 12 DW9.
