Scott Dixon takes over

Miami, which hosts the final round of this season?Indycar Series, will designate the name of the 2009 champion of the discipline. Before this final race, three men are vying to win the crown.

Scott Dixon is best placed. Third in the general classification at the start of the weekend, the New Zealander gave himself the best chance at Motegi. Author of the first time in qualifying, Dixon started from pole position and dominated most of the race, covering 70% of the laps in the lead. By winning, the Australian makes up for his deficit and places himself at the top of the championship.

Dario Franchitti, in the shadow of his teammate, could well win the bet. Consistent, the Briton has not been out of the top 6 in the last seven races. Winner four times this season, the Ganassi Racing driver finished second at Motegi and remains in ambush, five points behind his teammate.

Ryan Briscoe lost big in Japan. Arriving at Motegi with a comfortable lead, the Australian only finished the Indy Japan 300 in 18th place, allowing his two rivals from Ganassi Racing to beat him in the general classification. Never able to win this race, even if he led a few laps for having refueled later, the Penske team driver penalized himself by making a mistake after his pit stop. However, nothing is lost for Briscoe, who is only eight points behind the new leader of the Indycar Series general classification. If he wins in Miami on October 10, he will be champion.
