Sébastien Buemi scores a second consecutive pole in New York

The fight for the Manufacturers' title will rage tonight for the final race of the 2017-2018 season. Formula E between Techeetah and Audi Sport ABT Schaeffler, but Sébastien Buemi (Renaut e.dams) could well have the role of referee with a second pole position won at the end of a session contested on a still wet track.

The group stage favored Lucas di Grassi (Audi Sport ABT Schaeffler), best time in 1'17″867 ahead of Sébastien Buemi, André Lotterer (Techeetah), Daniel Abt (Audi Sport ABT Schaeffler) and the new champion Jean-Eric Vergne (Techeetah).

The Super Pole finally saw Sébastien Buemi set the reference time in 1'17″973, while Lucas di Grassi came into contact with the wall and only started 5th. Buemi will start on the front row alongside André Lotterer, with Jean-Eric Vergne and Daniel Abt sharing the second row of the grid.

The two Jaguars of Mitch Evans and Nelson Piquet Jr and the DS Virgin Racing of Sam Bird will follow. Felix Rosenqvist (Mahindra Racing) and Stéphane Sarrazin (Andretti) complete the top 10. 4th in race 1 yesterday, Tom Dillmann (Venturi) will start 14th, two positions ahead of Nicolas Cheers (Renault e.dams).

Note that António Félix da Costa (Andretti) encountered technical problems during the session and had to interrupt his attempt. The last race of the season will start this evening shortly after 21 p.m.
