Simon Pagenaud on pole in Iowa

From a city track in Toronto to the oval in Iowa, simon pagenaud hasn't lifted his foot in a week. The Frenchman from Team Penske – Chevrolet followed up perfectly this Friday in qualifying in Iowa by taking his second pole position in a week in IndyCar Series, the third in 2019.

The winner of the Indianapolis 500, winner last Sunday in Canada, dominated the qualifying session today by completing the best average of the two laps at 180,073 mph (289,799 km/h and in 35″745), and being the only driver to have broken the 180 mph mark.

Pagenaud is ahead of his Team Penske teammates, Will Power and Josef Newgarden, beaten by 96 and 124 thousandths, in a reverse order compared to the free practice, where Newgarden was ahead of the Frenchman and the Australian.

Takuma Sato is the best of the rest at the wheel of his Team RLL DW12 – Honda, and precedes James Hinchcliffe (SPM – Honda) in the top 5.

Alexander Red best place car Andretti Autosport – Honda in sixth position ahead of Graham Rahal (Team RLL), Scott Dixon (Chip Ganassi Racing – Honda), Ryan Hunter Reay (Andretti Autosport) and Marcus Ericsson (SPM).

Disappointment for Sébastien Bourdais (Dale Coyne Racing with Vasser Sullivan – Honda), only 21st.
