Ticktum wins the sprint race

After a not always easy start to the season, Daniel Ticktum won his first victory in Formula 2, Sunday at Silverstone, after starting from pole. The Briton has unlocked his counter and that of his French team DAMS. He beat Christian Lundgaard (ART Grand Prix) and Louis Delétraz (Charouz).

There will ultimately have been two races in one. The first lasted until the 16th lap and the abandonment of Callum Ilott (UNI-Virtuosi), who spun while he was 3rd and was coming back strongly to the race lead. The Briton, without meaning to, completely dynamited the end of the race. After the Safety Car entered the track, the drivers were forced to go through the pits to avoid the accident zone. Then 2nd, Christian Lundgaard took the opportunity to put on mediums, even if it meant losing four positions for the last three laps. At the restart, the Dane successively passed mazepin, Zhou and Deletraz, to finish on the heels of Ticktum, with the best lap in the race.

Note that Robert Shwartzman, the championship leader, only took 13th place, and the Frenchman Giuliano Alesi (HWA Racelab) finished 8th.
