Tsunoda wins, status quo at the top of the championship

Yuki tsunoda won his third victory of the season this Saturday on the Sakhir outdoor circuit. The Carlin driver managed to convert his pole position into victory, but he did not lead the entire race. After an average start which saw him fall to 3rd place, Tsunoda was patient in attacking Nikita mazepin, then leader, in the last laps of the season, to take control of the race from him. A victory which will also allow him to secure the Top 5 and validate his superlicense, he who is aiming for a seat in F1 at Alpha Tauri.

Nippon won in front Guanyu-Zhou, despite a five-second penalty, and ahead of Nikita Mazepin, still under investigation after taking Tsunoda then Felipe Drugovich to the outside of the track in the pit straight.

The race was obviously marked by the fight for the title between Mick Schumacher and Callum Ilott. Starting 18th after a poor qualification, the German managed to limit the damage by finishing 7th, closely marking Callum Ilott (UNI-Virtuosi) just in front of him. Better still, it's even a status quo at the top of the championship since the two points for the best lap in the race allow him to score eight points, as many as his rival.

For its part, Theo Pourchaire continued to learn the category. 18th, he managed to make some good overtakes, particularly in the very first moments of the race. He even very briefly led the debates in the pit stop game. The Frenchman will only have Sunday's sprint race to gain experience before his big debut in the category in 2021.
