Tsunoda takes pole, Schumacher in danger

On a particularly short circuit, we expected a spectacular qualifying. And we were served. Japanese Yuki tsunoda, already the fastest in free practice earlier in the day, scored his fourth pole of the season in Bahrain. The Carlin pilot was ahead Nikita mazepin (Carlin) and his teammate Jehan Daruvala.

The qualification was especially marked by the incident between Mick Schumacher (Prema) and Roy Nissany (Trident) at the end of the session. Wanting to prepare for his last flying lap, the German fell back a little quickly on the Israeli after having overtaken him, and the two men touched each other, Nissany tearing off the rear wing of the championship leader.

Bad operation therefore for the son of the Red Baron who will start 18th, nine places behind his main rival for the title, the Briton Callum Ilott (UNI-Virtuosi, 9th). As a reminder, only 14 points separate the two men before this last round of the season. Difficult qualification also for Giuliano Alesi (MP Motorsport) and Theo Pourchaire (HWA Racelab), 16th and 17th respectively.
