Vitaly Petrov takes advantage of the conditions

In the rain, Vitaly Petrov (Barwa Int. Campos Team) won in Malaysia, opening the F1 Grand Prix. The Russian driver thus returns to third place in the championship, behind Kamui Kobayashi (Dams) and Davide Velsecchi (Durango)

Vitaly Petrov takes advantage of the conditions

The rain delayed the start of the sprint race by half an hour, and it was finally under Safety Car regime that the GP2 Asia Series pack was released. At the green flag, Pastor Maldonado directly threatens the pole sitter of the day, Davide Valsecchi. The Monagasque takes control of the race at the second corner. Petrov also took the opportunity to overtake Valsecchi. The Russian is putting increasing pressure on the leader. It will take Petrov five rounds to overcome Maldonado.

The first three will remain in this order until the checkered flag, Petrov ahead of Maldonado and Valsecchi. Sixth, the championship leader, Kamuy Kobayashi gets overtaken on the last lap by Sergio Perez. Kobayashi?s lead therefore diminishes a little, before the last meeting of the year, in Bahrain. He is thirteen points ahead of Valsecchi. Petrov is now third.
