The Zurich Festival and the location of the circuit in the city center are the reason for the presence of the ePrix for 2019 but should return to another area in 2020.

Zurich absent from the 2018-19 calendar

After only one edition last spring, the Zurich (Switzerland) ePrix of Formula e will not be renewed for the 2018-19 season. The municipality of the Swiss city made this decision mainly for a planning issue.

The calendar for the 2018-19 season included the Zurich ePrix on June 11, 2019. However, Zurich will host several major events during this period, such as the Zurich Pride Festival or the Zurich Festival, which attract two million visitors every three years in the city center.

The Zurich circuit being located precisely in the heart of the city, the town hall explained that it would prohibit the organization of the race at this location to avoid certain crowds.

However, there should be an ePrix in Switzerland. The city of Bern would be in the running to recover the electric competition according to local media La Liberté, before Zurich takes over its lease in 2020, provided that the route is located in an area other than the lake.
