Espargaro sets new Barcelona record

Aleix Espargaro is clearly the favorite for pole position for this Catalan GP. The Aprilia rider lapped under the circuit record with a time of 1'38.771. He is a little more than a tenth ahead of Johann Zarco, second driver under the 1'39 mark.

Jorge Martin, who will undergo an operation next week on his hand, climbed into third position ahead of the official Ducati team duo, Francesco Bagnaia and Jack Miller.

First rider on a Japanese machine, fabio quartararo lifts his Yamaha to sixth place in the hierarchy, only three tenths from the benchmark. Luca Marini, Pol Espargaro, who fell during the third session, Alex Rins and Fabio Giannantonio, definitely in great shape after his pole position at Mugello last week, complete the list of protagonists who will go directly to Q2.

Second on the evening of the first day, Maverick Viñales fails in 11e position and will have to go through the repechage, just like Enea Bastianini, Joan Mir and the other KTM representatives.
