As tradition dictates, the Rally Monte-Carlo (January 19-22) marks the opening of the specialty world championship. For the second year in a row, this meeting will be based in Monaco where the service park is located. This is of great importance since due to the cramped conditions of the premises, the organizers are obliged to limit the number of cars at the start. The 75 available places were quickly allocated.

As was to be expected, there are many Rally2s at the start of this 2023 Monte-Carlo Rally with 41 cars including 27 entered in WRC2 with Adrien fourmaux, Yohan Rossel and Stéphane Lefebvre headlining. Others like Oliver Solberg or Sami Pajari will be there to gain experience. A quality that François Delecour (25e Monte-Carl'), Olivier Burri (also 25) or Eamonn Boland (18e). Among the other regulars, the Monegasque Marc Dessi will be there for the 37e times coming within one record unit of the Norwegian Leif Vold-Johansen (38).

This year will mark the return of several drivers including that of Bruno Riberi who had not come since 2012, Romain Haut-Labourdette who made the 2017 edition and the experienced Richard Frau who had been absent since 2012 and who for his 19e participation will lead a group of 5 Alpine A110.
