Adrien Fourmaux well present in Portugal

The start of the 2022 championship is not what had imagined Adrien fourmaux. Three rounds have been contested and the Frenchman has not yet finished one. After an accident in Monte-Carlo and a mechanical problem in Sweden, it was an outing which interrupted his performance in the 3e Croatia time. At the end of this new abandonment, the former medical student wondered about the rest of his season and even beyond his career. However, no decision had been taken immediately in Zagreb and doubt hovered over the presence of Fourmaux and Alexandre Coria in Portugal (May 16-22). Positive for Covid, Malcolm Wilson was absent in Croatia and it was Richard Millener who managed the situation.

« It's frustrating for him and for us, explained the team manager after his driver's mistake. This is one of the risks when you field young players who still need to gain experience. I don't know if it's threatened, but we can't afford to rebuild a new car before every event. » Asked about the ideal strategy to adopt, Millener did not want to project too much. “ It would be easy to react abruptly and say: we're changing drivers, he detailed. Is this the best decision? We made the effort last year and this year to put a program in place for him. Should we stop everything? We know he can drive fast. The problem with its abandonment comes from the repair costs that this generates. However, it would be hard to tell a driver to just drive slowly because that wouldn't help anyone. We could also run Adrien in a Rally2 which would mean that he would race without a hybrid. Sometimes this solution works, sometimes not, but when returning to Rally1, the pressure would be there again. We need to clearly analyze what happened in Croatia before seeing what we want to do. »

A few days after the 3e manche de la saison, M-Sport a donc décidé qu’Adrien Fourmaux effectuerait les tests sur terre prévus pour le Portugal et qu’il serait aligné à Porto sur la Puma pour le 4e appointment. A new chance that the Frenchman will have to seize.
