In recent weeks, Andrea Adamo had hinted that he might give up calling on several people to use the team's third car. The Italian boss ultimately remained faithful to his principles. If Thierry Neuville et Ott Tänak will compete in all the events of the 2022 calendar, the 3e car will welcome two drivers including Dani Sordo.

For the 38-year-old Spaniard, this will be his 9th year of collaboration with the South Korean brand which has been involved in this competition since 2014. “ I have already said many times that Hyundai Motorsport is like family to me, said Dani who took two victories in an i20 WRC. I am therefore delighted to continue my career with them in the new hybrid era of the WRC. We have worked together for many years and we have shared important moments. I look forward to new challenges. I am very excited. » Since 2018, the driver from Torrelavega (Cantabria, Spain) has no longer competed in full seasons and this mode of operation suits him perfectly. In 2022, he will exchange seats with Oliver Solberg.

« It's a dream come true, enthused the young Swede. It's really cool. Thierry and Ott have enormous experience. They are great people to learn from. I'm only 20 years old, so it's a big step so early in my career. I can’t wait to get there and find out what events I’m going to do. It’s definitely a special time to be involved in the WRC. » By combining experience and youth in its 3e car, Andrea Adamo is convinced that he has found the best compromise. “ We are delighted to confirm Dani and Oliverhe says.

We believe this is the ideal mix for a new era of WRC. Not only will Dani be competing in a number of rallies, but he will also be working with us on races when Oliver comes along. His approach to competition and his years of practice will be valuable assets for the team's learning. We will have significant continuity and confidence mutual while that Oliver will bring new blood. We will undoubtedly have a very strong team as we begin a new chapter for Hyundai Motorsport. »
