Jan Krasula, Project Manager of the development team at ŠKODA Motorsport, explains: “To achieve the best possible result, we started from scratch compared to the previous Fabia Rally2. For example, we were able to reposition the fuel tank. In the engine compartment, we took advantage of the greater space in the chassis structure. We also redesigned the gearbox, clutch and flywheel to achieve less inertia and more efficiency. In addition, the new generation receives a larger and more efficient cooling circuit, which could not have been placed under the hood of the current car. »
Emil Lindholm, reigning Finnish Champion, also says he is impressed after having extensively tested the car in development: “The new generation is very well balanced. The longer wheelbase makes the car a little quieter, the rear is more stable.” Andreas Mikkelsen, 2 WRC2021 and 2021 European champion at the wheel of a Fabia Rally2 EVO, drives the point home: “The balance of the car is really, really nice. It gives me a lot of confidence to push on the jumps.” The last thief to participate in this genesis is Kris Meeke, ex-official Citroën driver who therefore has solid references to position the Czech well on the performance chessboard: “Step by step, we are making improvements in all areas. » The Fabia will soon be submitted for approval for its official debut later this year.
