Who will be the twentieth Junior world champion?

The eleventh round of the season marks the conclusion of the JWRC. The latter is celebrating its 20th anniversary and has already revealed drivers like Sébastien Loeb, Sébastien Ogier or Elfyn Evans. With Catalunya offering double prize money and each best time yielding one (i.e. 19 in total), the 6 competitors present in Salou still have a mathematical chance of being titled. However, three candidates are better placed to win the prizes at stake.

Winner in Estonia, Sami Pajari is the provisional leader. Discovering Spain and having little experience of tarmac, the Finn will not be favorite even if he has 3 points ahead of Jon Armstrong. Already victorious during the events run on asphalt in Croatia and Belgium, the Englishman will also have the advantage of knowing the terrain after his three previous participations (2015, 2016 and 2017). “ It's definitely beneficial to have experience in this round, He explains. It gives a little more confidence, but I think I can't relax on that or take it for granted. I still need to get some really good recognition. You will have to find the ideal pace to attack. »

In third position with 14 points behind Pajari, Martins Sesks will have to sign the rally perfect and hope that his rivals stumble to be crowned. The 2021 champion will have a choice. Either he will opt for a Ford Fiesta Rally2, free registration for WRC2 in 2022, five free WRC2 entries and 200 Pirelli tires. He may also decide to compete in five fully funded races with a Fiesta Rally3 in the 3 WRC2022.
