Bonato leads the Rallye du Touquet after the first stage

The double French Rally Champion Yoann bonato (Citroën) made light of the tricky conditions during the first stage of the Rally du Touquet (Pas-de-Calais) Friday March 15. The CHL team driver signed two scratch times but only counts 5''7 ahead of Nicolas Ciamin (Volkswagen) after the night specials.

“I have rarely driven in such conditions, admitted the leader. It was super tricky today and it's even more complicated here because the stages are fast and it's often ''at full throttle''. It's good to be at the finish this evening whatever position you find yourself in. »

His direct rival Nicolas Ciamin remains confident. “We took back quite a bit of time from Yoann Bonato on this second loop and that promises a great fight for tomorrow. I'm not worried about him, I know he's resourceful. »

On these wet and muddy roads, the gaps are then significant, since Quentin Gilbert (Volkswagen), William Wagner (Volkswagen), Sylvain Michel (Skoda) and Stéphane Lefebvre (Citroën) concede around thirty seconds.

Titled in the Junior category in 2018, Adrien fourmaux (Ford) is sailing in seventh place. In this ranking dominated by R5 cars, Éric Brunson is a holdout with his Ford Fiesta WRC (10th at 2'41''). As for Yoann Roussel (Citroën), his race ended in the first kilometers with a road trip (broken shock absorber).
