Cédric Robert: “Great fight”

Cedric Robert (Peugeot 307 WRC) won the Rally Lyon Charbonnières with panache, having taken the lead from SS1 by setting the best time, then increasing their lead as the stages progressed. Second for a long time, Pieter Tsjoen (Ford Focus WRC) suffered gearbox problems, having to give way to Dany Snobeck (Peugeot 307 WRC), winner of the event the two previous seasons.

« I am very happy, commented Cédric Robert at the end of the second round of the French Championship. It is a rally without incident and without the slightest problem. I feel like I'm at home, in the car I feel like I'm in an armchair. It is happiness ! It’s a great victory that comes at the right time. My two opponents, Snobeck and Tsjoen achieved very good times. It was a great fight. »

For his part, Dany Snobeck would have liked to make the three pass but is not upset by this result. “ Finishing second behind Cédric, former official Peugeot driver, is a great performance. I don?t have to be ashamed of being behind him, it?s as if I had won. It's a great car, I had fun. I am very happy to have fought for a place on the podium with Tsjoen. I loved it. I will probably be present at two other events this season. »

Third, Pieter Tsjoen takes advantage of this good result to keep the reins of the French Championship ranking, with 32 points. “ I prefer to have a mechanical problem when I'm fighting for second place and not for victory. The important thing was to take the points for third place. It?s always good to take, it can count at the end of the championship. I am satisfied with my performance on a rally that I was discovering. Does this help me improve my note-taking? It's a very weekend
positive.

Ninth in Lyon Charbonnières and now second in the Championship standings, Manu Guigou (Renault Clio R3 Maxi) once again demonstrated its consistency and peak speed. “ As usual, the Clio R3 was extremely reliable. We didn't have the slightest alert. The Chazel team has built a great car. She's at the top! », affirms the driver who won in Group R. « We attacked so much, we got so close to the limit that we didn't have a single second of respite. »

Next meeting from June 11 to 13 in Limousin, the Alsace-Vosges Rally scheduled for May not taking place.
