Cellier wins the 2020 Youth Rally

Postponed to the end of winter due to the coronavirus, the 2020 selection of the operation Rally Jeunes crowned the young Thibaud Cellier. At 22, the native of Saint-Étienne (Loire) won the final, spread over two days (March 1 and 2) on the Lédenon circuit (Gard).

On the program for these tests: tests at the wheel of a Ford Fiesta R2J, but also individual interviews to gauge the temperament and motivations of each of the four best candidates.

“This was my fourth participation in the Youth Rally operation and each time I climbed the ranks”, explains the one who will have the chance to participate in the French Junior Rally Championship with the FFSA Youth Rally Team.

“First degree the first year, second degree the second year, finalist in 2019 and finally winner this year. From the start of the day, I felt comfortable in the car. I quickly got my bearings and had a lot of fun.

Waiting for the result was difficult. I was trembling. I felt enormous happiness when I heard my name. I am very happy. Now it's up to me to be the best I can be this season. I am going toe provide the means to be at the level by working on grades and my physique. I want to put all the chances on my side to be the best possible in all rounds of the Championship. »

At only 19 years, Hugo Roch finishes at the rank of substitute. “I approached Rallye Jeunes without any particular pressure,” declares the native of Bandol (Var). I had nothing to lose and I am very proud of my journey. I didn't expect to get this far. I am very happy with this experience. I really enjoyed discovering the rally. I am passionate about motorsport and I have practiced in a few disciplines including the circuit but I had never had the slightest experience in rallying. In any case, I intend to try my luck again during the next edition. »

The Operation Manager, Nicolas Bernardi, gives a positive assessment of this edition. “We are satisfied with this edition which brought together more than 1 candidates and which was very competitive from start to finish, and even until the last moments of the Final where the candidates were decided with very small gaps. We received significant support from the Rhône Alpes and Occitanie Méditerranée Leagues which hosted the selections this year. I thank them very much for their important help. »
